celebrating people with disabilities

International Day of Disabled People (IDDP) is supported by the United Nations.  It is an important day when people come together to celebrate people with disabilities and the organisations which champion them.  It is fun, free and inclusive.

This years theme is "Wellbeing and Empowerment through Community." We chose this theme because IDDP is a community event. Everyone in our community is keen to celebrate with us including young people as well as charities, schools, clubs, community groups and services.

IDDP will run on Thursday, 30th November from 1.00 PM until 8.00 PM at Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club.  We have lots of family-friendly and inclusive fun like sports, art and music. You can enjoy delicious healthy food, snacks and treats. You can also have fun at our disco. There is a car park nearby with ramps.

IDDP has been celebrated in Barking and Dagenham since 2003.  The Progress Project hosted the work since 2013.  We are very proud of our work.

An important part of the day is celebrating young people with disabilities. We like to showcase and acknowledge their talents and achievements.
